Best timing in Ottawa

For most Ottawa trees, late winter or early spring, before leaves open, is the safest window. Oaks and elms are often better in late fall. Apple, crabapple, cherry, and plum are usually trimmed in spring. Exact timing depends on the species and on any disease risk. We will set a date that fits the tree, not a one-size calendar.

We do not top trees

Topping cuts large upright branches back to stubs. It creates wounds that are hard to close, forces weak sprout growth, and can kill the tree over time. If a tree is too tall for the site, we use crown reduction instead: shortening limbs back to a lower growth point while keeping the tree’s structure.
